The Publication “Puducherry at a Glance” is an annual Publication being brought out by this Directorate with an intention to provide key statistical information on major sectors of the U.T economy. The Directorate of Economics and Statistics is the nodal agency in the Union Territory of Puducherry for collection, compilation and dissemination of statistical information required for formulation of effective economic Plans in the U.T of Puducherry.  Since inception, DES has been striving hard to provide relevant, accurate and objective statistical information for monitoring the UT economy and the social conditions and for creation and maintenance of an informed Public.

 Efforts have been made to improve the coverage, content and presentation of the publication in each issue. Charts have also been incorporated in the Publication to make it more user friendly. I hope this report would be useful to the Administrators, Research Scholars, Planners, Economists and General Public. 

I place my gratitude to all the data source agencies for their active co-operation in making available the requisite data well in advance which has enabled to bring out the publication in time and I expect similar co-operation from the source agencies in future also. 

I place on record my appreciation for the concerted efforts of the officers and staff of the Publication/Computer Unit of this Directorate in bringing out this publication. 

Suggestions for improvement of the content and quality of the Publication are welcome.
